Operation Christmas Child 2015

Operation Christmas Child 2015

Operation Christmas Child is one of the world’s largest children’s Christmas appeals and it is run by the charity organisation, Samaritan’s Purse.  This appeal encourages us to think about others at Christmas and share what we have with those around the world who are less fortunate than us.

Mr Phillips kindly provided us with shoe boxes to fill and I am pleased to say that the response to the appeal was fantastic! The pupils and staff at UAK provided 93 shoe boxes filled with gifts to be sent for this very worthy cause.  Once again, the pupils and staff of UAK have shown generosity and kindness to others, and I would like to thank all those involved for their efforts.

Children in Need – ‘Dress as your Hero’ Day

Children in Need - Dress as your Hero

As a fun way to raise money for Children in Need, students sponsored staff to spend the whole day as their hero. Marvel Comic characters were clearly popular choices along with Disney, Star Wars and Harry Potter. Even Scooby Doo and Mr Bump made an appearance.

You can watch the progress of the Children of Need Appeal Night on BBC1 tonight from 7.30pm:
