“BAE Roadshow” visits Maryhill

BAE Roadshow visit to Maryhill
“After working with the year 7 at Maryhill High School, I felt it only right to say what a fantastic group of young people they were. Their work ethic and attitude were nothing short of brilliant. To have 120 people listen and work so well together is something that does not happen in every school. We go to hundreds of schools all over the UK working with thousands of young people, and the students in year 7 have been some of the best I have ever seen. They were a credit to Maryhill High School.”
– Jerome Wilson: Team leader of the BAE and the RAF Roadshow

You can see why we are immensely proud of our Year 7 students after the BAE systems Roadshow visit on June 14th!
All of our year 7 students attended, along with students from two local primary schools – St Saviours and Scholar Green. The event was a great success with students gaining an enormous amount of enjoyment from it.

The Roadshow, designed primarily for 9-13 year olds, aims to inspire young people towards a career in engineering and the RAF and involves a theatrical performance and accompanying workshop sessions including an introduction to exciting technologies such as infrared and invisibility cloaks. All activities are carefully chosen to support the curriculum as well as to inspire young people.
During the workshop section, pupils had the challenge of using a computer to program a remote control car to complete a maze.
