On Monday 6 December 2010, Maryhill High School Choir were invited by Miss Forster Sharples of Ravenswood Care Home to sing for their residents. This is the second year students have been invited to attend. Fourteen students from Years 7 to 10 sang a range of festive tunes, both traditional and modern. The residents were keen to sing along to the songs they knew and were ‘bopping away’ to the new modern tunes. The choir ended with “Silent Night”, where many of the residents were moved to tears. Miss Watton, Head of Performing Arts, was very proud of all the students and said “they were a real credit to the school, they were amazing with the residents”.
Miss Forster Sharples is keen to continue with this tradition as the residents have come to expect a visit from Maryhill students and is something the students look forward to. She said “The choir were wonderful and the residents really enjoyed it”.
