High Fives Netball Tournaments

GCSE students from UAK were given the opportunity of umpiring a Newcastle primary schools ‘High Fives Netball Tournament’.

Carl Inskip, Newcastle Schools Games Coordinator asked students from UAK to assist refereeing the Year 5 and 6 netball tournament games. The Year 10 students were given some basic training on umpiring, score keeping and time keeping before the tournaments at Keele University.

As a result of their hard work and commitment, five students have been asked to umpire the County Finals in February.

Mrs Castrey, Head of Physical Education commented: “I am so proud of all the students who participated. It was a pleasure to see each of them grow in confidence when umpiring and further their knowledge of netball.  This will stand them in good stead for the GCSE PE assessment.”

Students were also asked to attend Sunday league games to help umpire the matches.
