Junior Athletics Championships

On Wednesday 12th June, forty year 7 and 8 pupils took part the Newcastle District Junior Athletics Championships at Northwood Stadium.  All the pupils were exceptional and thoroughly enjoyed the day.  The weather stayed dry and all pupils put 100% effort into their events.

In the under 13s category, Georgia Jones achieved 2nd place and a Silver Medal for the Shot Putt and Hannah-Jacia Capes placed 4th in the Hurdles Final.  In the under 14s category, Joe Booth placed 5th in 100m Finals and 7th the 200m Finals.  Liam Ashton achieved 2nd place and a Silver medal for Shot Putt, Morgan Knight achieved first place and a Gold medal for 400m and was also scouted by a City of Stoke Athletics Club coach.  Casey Maddock wiped the floor with the competition in the 1500m race, achieving first place and breaking the stadium record with a time of 4.45 seconds.  Casey also managed to perform the Mo-Bot as he crossed the finish line!

All medal winning athletics now have a place at the County Finals on 26th June.  Well done to all competitors; you were brilliant and Miss Hambleton and the school are very proud!
