Kidsgrove Spitfire Art Competition

Maryhill High School was approached by the Kidsgrove Town Council and The Spitfire Society who were running an Art Competition based on Reginald Mitchell and the Spitfire he designed.

We had a number of Art Club sessions hosted at Maryhill, which we devoted to the Spitfire and we looked at how we could portray this for the competition.

Year 7 pupil Paige Dale-Denton’s (7LC) final design portrayed Reginald Mitchell looking across at three Spitfires in full flight.

This design was considered to be the best in the Secondary School category and Paige Dale-Denton was awarded first prize by the Mayor at a ceremony at the Town Hall on Saturday 14 May. Paige won a framed certificate and a prize and Maryhill High School was presented with a plaque for being the Secondary School Winner. We would like to congratulate all members who took part and especially Paige as the winner, well done!
