National Cheerleading Competition

On Friday 1 July, the UAK Panthers Cheerleading team took part in the UDO National Schools Dance Championships at Fenton Manor Sports Complex. This is a national competition, comprising of schools from all over the country. The cheerleaders competed in the cheer category and performed superbly. Their stunts were flawless and their dancing was all in time. The girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves whilst performing.

The judging panel consisted of Kane Silver, Ricky Jinks and Kane Ricca; all dancers and top in their field. After the competition, the girls were able to take part in contemporary, street and flash mob workshops hosted by the judges, to further their skills and knowledge of dance. The judges then treated the audience to some demonstrations, which truly inspired the dancers.

The cheerleaders came a very commendable 2nd overall and left with a trophy and medals for their efforts. The team have already devised a plan to go back next year and win! Mrs Castrey and the rest of the Academy are extremely proud of the cheerleaders’ achievements this year! Well done girls!
