Our mission is to combine the highest quality learning alongside the well-being of every individual so that each student matures into a decent, disciplined and principled young adult, equipped for a rewarding position in the twenty-first century.
We achieve this by placing the learning and well-being of each student at the centre of every action we take and every decision we make. OFSTED recognised that “no child slips through the net” of care and related that they had never seen students so proud of their Academy.
The SEND Information Report contains information about how we meet special educational needs at UAK and answers many of the frequently asked questions, such as:
- How does the school know if my son/daughter needs extra help?
- What should I do if I think my child may have a special educational need?
- How will the school support my child?
- Who can I contact for further information or if I have any concerns?
Our Policy Documents page also includes useful information such as our Special Educational Needs (SEN) Policy, Disability Equality and Pupil Premium Policy.
Parents and carers who are considering UAK for their child, and wish to make arrangements to discuss special educational needs, are welcome to telephone us on 01782 948250 to make an appointment.
If your child already attends UAK and you have concerns about their needs, then please make an appointment by telephone on 01782 948250 to discuss these with your child’s Head of Learning. This may then result in a referral to the school SENCO, Karen Mitchell.
All parents will be listened to. Their views and aspirations for their child will be central to the assessment and provision that is provided by the Academy.
