Young Peer Mentors from Maryhill High School visited Newcastle College where they celebrated Peer Mentors from all over the District.
The Mayor of Newcastle was there, along with Paul Wainhouse from “The Mentoring & Befriending Association” who was a guest speaker.
All students had a celebratory lunch, followed by a formal presentation of certificates from the Mayor. This event was in recognition of all their hard work and commitment within the various Peer Mentoring Projects which have taken place this year.
Students said that Peer Mentoring has given them the chance to:
“Gain more confidence”
“Meet new people”
“Help solve problems”
“Be a part of making a special event”
