On 14th December, students from UAK were proud to present their sixth annual dance performance with the theme of new and old school ‘mix tape tracks’. There were 25 participants this year and former student Grant Bowyer also performed.
Students started auditioning for the performance in September 2016 where they were asked to choreograph their own dance routines. Our Dance students are extremely dedicated and have been rehearsing since September, including late into the evenings. Many students and staff supported the performance with a special mention for Holly Jones who designed the set.
This year’s performance was an outstanding success which ended with a finale to a medley of Martha and the Vandellas, Whitney Houston and Justin Timberlake. This was choreographed by Mrs Weaver, Charlie Betley and Maddison Williams-Powell. Some of the individual dances included music from the Adele, Justin Bieber and Calvin Harris. The staff dance proved to be very popular with the audience!
Head of Physical Education, Mrs Castrey, commented: “I would like to thank everyone who took part and supported the event to make the performance so successful. The dedication and passion from our young dancers have really outdone themselves this year.”
Charlie Betley from Year 11 said: “The dance show was phenomenal! I loved every minute of it. I shall really miss it next year and might even come back just to perform.”
