On December 18th, we saw the 4th annual dance show in full swing; this year having a movie theme. There were 62 participants from across the school, including 14 boys.
The dancers auditioned in September, creating their own routine to music taken from a film. The dancers then performed their own dances along with an opening dance to Hairspray and a finale dance to Dirty Dancing, choreographed by Miss Bennett. Some of the individual dances included music from Gladiator, Fame, Grease, Billy Elliot and the Haka taken from the film Invictus. The staff Jive proved to be very popular with the audience.
The pupils had been rehearsing since September, even giving up their Sunday mornings. The Technology and Art departments helped with set and costume design along with several invaluable members of staff and other pupils working hard backstage.
This year proved to be the best show ever, with over 200 audience members and a total of nearly £400 raised which will help fund new equipment for the school fitness suite.
Show producer, Kim Hambleton, wishes to thank everyone who took part, helped, and gave up their time to make the show so successful. She is already looking forward to next year’s show!
