On Thursday 13th June 2013, forty pupils from Years 7 and 8 took part in the very first University of Chester Academy Trust Shield Sports Day in Warrington. This was organised with members from all 6 academies in the University of Chester family. Altogether around 250 pupils took part from 6 schools. It was a truly fantastic day.
Pupils from University Academy Kidsgrove were amazing. Their behaviour was outstanding and their efforts were faultless! They competed in 4 sports; Volleyball, Football, Athletics and Rowing. Throughout the day our pupils showed determination, brilliant team work and had a great sense of sportsmanship towards other schools. I was so proud of each and every one of them.
In addition to the pupils taking part, 8 pupils from years 9 and 10 went as Sports Leaders. They organised the teams, supported and motivated them; a great help to the staff. Overall, the school finished in 4th position with the year 8 girls winning the rowing! I would like to thank each pupil for their hard work and the other members of staff who supported the pupils on the day; Mrs Smith, Mr Davies and Mr Birchall.
We are all now looking forward to next years event which will be bigger and better!
