On Wednesday 4 May, 16 Year 10 pupils took part in the Newcastle Schools Leadership Academy. They received training at Keele University in the morning on how to play and officiate in mini tennis. In the afternoon, they aided with a primary school level 2 tournament. In this they umpired, coached and supported primary school pupils whilst they were playing. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day and will use the skills they have learned in other aspects of school life.
Mr Carl Inskip, the School Games Coordinator for Newcastle Schools said “I want to say a big thank you to your leaders and your school for supporting me and the organisation of the mini tennis competition. Your pupils were a credit to your school and carried out the leadership duty brilliantly.”
The leaders will now use their new skills for helping with inter-form sport competitions and sports day.
